Направление ветра определяют за той стороной горизонта, откуда он дует. Если, например, ветер дует с мероприятия, его называют западным. Это означает, что воздух перемещается с запада на восток.

Скорость ветра зависит от атмосферного давления: чем большая разница в давлении между участками земной поверхности, тем сильнее ветер .

Муссоны  в тропическом климате. Зимой муссон дует с суши в сторону океана, летом, наоборот, с океана на сушу и несет с собой огромное количество влаги.

Пассат это постоянный ветер. Он дует с постоянной силой вне зависимости от времени года.
