Почему где-то стоит is, где-то am, а где-то are:

is используется с he,she,it(он,она,это).К примеру: My sister(моя сестра) -she(она), your brother(твой брат)-he(он) после них ставим is,если в предложении вопрос то перед ними

То же самое с are и am

are используется с we,they(мы,они). the students(студенты)-they(они), само we(мы)-we)) так же как и с is, либо перед либо после глаголов ставим are
