Великие реформы Петра I. Превращение России в мощную европейскую державу. Победа в Северной войне над Швецией - обретение выхода к Балтике. Изменения в жизни и быту русского народа.
1725-1762 - эпоха дворцовых переворотов - гвардия смещает и возводит на трон новых императоров и императриц: Екатерина I, Петр II, Анна Иоанновна, Иван VI Антонович, Петр III, Екатерина II Великая. Противоречивая эпоха. войны с Турцией и Швецией. Расширение территории государства.
Особый этап - правление Екатерины II. Продолжение реформ, приобретение выхода к Черному морю. Присоединение Крыма.
