Особливість полягає в тому, що Закон України чітко підкреслює – в Україні допускається тільки єдине громадянство. Якщо особа є громадянином будь-якої держави, крім України, то вона автоматично втрачає громадянство України (ст.19 Закону України «Про громадянство»).

подвійне громадянство заборонено за Конституцією України. За винятком тих осіб яким насильно дали іноземне громадянство.
