It may seem strange to some, but until now I have not thought about such a question. And really, why? Why did I, a girl from a small village, suddenly become a teacher? A speech therapist teacher? After all, at that time there was definitely no such specialist among my teachers. Yes, there was no specialist... But there was a wonderful person, Lidiya Afanasyevna Leontyeva, my favorite teacher. It was she who saw in me, in a girl who loved to read poetry, dance, perform in theatrical performances, who was interested in psychology and dreamed of connecting her life with medicine, a future teacher. Under her strict guidance, I entered and successfully graduated from pedagogical school and worked as a primary school teacher. The names of my first students are forever preserved in my memory and heart. But more and more often I thought about continuing my studies, but I had doubts about the choice of direction. But they too soon disappeared. The school where I worked opened a class for special children. It was then that I first heard about a speech therapist teacher. I became interested in this new, unknown. So I decided on my further professional choice. And now I am already a student at the Moscow State Open Pedagogical University.

Did I understand then what profession I had chosen? Of course not! Experience and love for my profession accumulated gradually, but the most important qualities, in my opinion, were responsibility and compassion for children. Perhaps they are the ones who help me build trusting relationships between children and their parents. Only through joint efforts will we be able to ensure that not only correct and beautiful speech is heard, but that confidence is sure to emerge, which will lead to new victories. As you know, victories do not happen without defeats and disappointments. Believe me, there are enough of them in my work. But strength of character, the ability to analyze and draw conclusions, a healthy dose of optimism, and faith in children help to overcome any difficulties. I understand how much depends on me when helping special children, so there is no room for error or failure. You know, I admire and am proud of my children. What hard workers they are! All classes with specialists are conducted in addition to the main lessons, and some of them also study dance and music. And they don’t give up, taking small steps slowly, in some places confidently, in others not so much, but they move forward.
